Campaign
Palm Oil and Kit Kats
NOTE THAT THIS CAMPAIGN IS NOW CLOSED. NESTLE HAVE NOW UPDATED THEIR PROCUREMENT POLICY.
“Crunchy, chocolatey, forest destruction – brought to you by Nestlé” – Greenpeace have just launched a spoof of a Kit Kat ad highlighting problems with Palm oil. According to Ecotube, youtube removed it within hours – on threat of being sued.
However, as a result of the pressure from this campaign, Nestle/KitKat have now suspended direct contracts with rainforest destroyer, Sinar Mas.
A great start, but Nestle need to do more. The privately owned food giant Cargill supplies palm oil to Nestle. And Cargill is a major customer of Sinar Mas.
The campaign will continue until Nestle/KitKat stops all trade with Sinar Mas, direct and indirect.
Add your voice to the growing wave of concern about Palm Oil manufacture, internet censorship and Nestle’s use of unsustainable palm oil obtained via intermediaries such as Cargil. Click on the link below to take action.
